We are moving to the area the first of June and we have been told to look for houses in the Elgin area and all I see is SW NW and SE area. Thanks in advance for the information. 

Elgin is actually 15 minutes north of the Main gate to Ft Sill. It is up I44. Very nice place. My oldest goes to school there and I drive him from post every day. Switched him this year b/c Lawton high is not a good school. His GPA has one up more than double. So happy with the change. 

Do you know if Elgin is in the SW area or what area? 

It's north east of Lawton 

No its NORTH of Lawton/Ft. SIll! 

I'm pretty sure according to the map of Oklahoma it's NORTHEAST of Lawton. It's not directly north. There is a bend in I44 that goes east towards the city!! 

Elgin is out of the city of Lawton, it is its own city, 15 minutes going in the Northern Direction on East I44. If you look at your compass you are heading North and yes the road bends so it technically would be NE of Lawton, but the highway is labeled East/West. It is in the southwest part of OK.
