this storm has caused!!! The ice on everything is so pretty at times when the light hits it, but am so shocked at how much damage has been done. Hope everyone is safe and getting power back soon!!! Wishing clean up to go well and stay safe in the process

i went off post for the first time since the storm today and couldn't believe it...i thought fort sill was bad, it's nothing compared to off post! i feel so horrible for the people that still don't have electricity...i was worried about the food we had just bought, but we ended up getting our power back on before i really had to worry. i wish we had the space to let more people stay with us, but we already have 2 soldiers and a spouse staying with us!!

I am guessing this is the first ice storm you two have ever been through because this really wasn't that bad. Anywho next time the power goes out and its this cold just place the food outside in the cold. And if you know anyone who still doesn't have power the redcross set up a shelter and so did fort sill there are also churches providing 3 hot meals to those whom want them.

lol i put all of my milk, bacon, cheese and eggs outside and it was fine...i'm from missouri, so i've seen ice storms like this, but it's still amazing. i haven't seen one like this in 5 years tho, since this is my first winter back in the midwest. we are only able to pick up fox with our antenna, does anyone know if there's any truth to the rumor that we are having another ice storm this week, or is it just going to be rain?! i'm starting to have contractions and reeeaaally don't want to have the baby in the middle of another storm!!! lol

I was born and raised in Minnesota and did not leave there until 3 years ago when we came down here. I have never seen anything to this magnitude up there, however, in MN they are way more equipped to deal with this as it is cold weather territory. Only one ice storm I can really remember and it was this bad, but I think the difference is the kinds of trees we had were stronger or maybe just were already frozen or something they did not see this much damage. There was power outages, but not to this extent. Truely, we could get 2 feet of snow and not have this many days out of school(my kids are amazed how much school they have missed here as they never had a full snow day up there, only late starts being in the Twin Cities). I was up in OKC today and they only seemed to have snow, no ice that I could see. it was sunny and much warmer than here. We just need some sun to clear things up so clean up can go smoother.

I grew up here and I think this was a bad storm. Maybe because I didnt have power for a week straight. Our house is all electric so we had no heat. Sure dont want to do that again.
